The
state government has agreed to replicate its e-procurement project
in Punjab. Under the project, the procurement process in government
departments is computerised. The Punjab government had made a request
for implementing the project.
The project facilitates online procurement without the involvement
of middlemen. The project was being implemented in roads and buildings,
irrigation and health departments in the state.
Chief
Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, at a meeting to review the status
of e-procurement process taken up in the state on Thursday, asked
the other departments to use e-procurement. According to an official
press release, Naidu asked the officials to utilise the 'e-procurement'
portal to provide information and training to contractors.
The officials told the chief minister that the process was being
used 20 circles in roads and buildings department, 18 circles in
irrigation department and 20 stores of AP Health Infrastructure
Development Corporation. The process would become operational in
the AP State Road Transport Corporation (AP-SRTC), AP Technological
Services and Commissionerate of Tenders shortly, the release added.
